Gratz Industries proudly presents a new documentary video, “I Just Want To Be Great.” story by Nicole Smith, proprietor of Core Love Culture Pilates studio, and directed by Rebel Monkey Productions in Philadelphia, PA.

By chronicling the journey of three football players at different career stages as they strive to achieve greatness and enhance their strength, flexibility, and control by practicing the Pilates method, we are shown the depth of a method that nurtures and protects the athleticism in everybody and all bodies.

2021 NFL All-Pro Defensive End Brandon Graham of the Philadelphia Eagles found that Pilates training has brought a newfound body awareness, increased strength, and flexibility. Malik Cooper, sophomore Running Back of the Temple University Owls, has seen a great enhancement in his stretch, control, and strength. While Kobe Goode, a pre-teen aspiring quarterback, has gained confidence and strength through his training. All three have formed a unique bond with Nicole as this work has encouraged them to experience and explore their strengths and weaknesses. When asked what he hopes to achieve from his Pilates training and in his career, Malik Cooper simply said, “I Just Want Be Great,” inspiring the documentary’s title. His response summed up what each of these athletes strives for with their perseverance and positivity in their careers and their Pilates practice. The Pilates method is a “non-traditional’ health and wellness practice that provides an individual with optimal health benefits.

Apparatus How To - Using the Gratz Reformer

http://www.pilatesology.com In this apparatus demonstration, Kathi Ross-Nash thoroughly explains the uses and proportions of the traditional Reformer and the reasons Joe Pilates created it the way he did. Kathi first shows you how to properly set up and use your Reformer, explaining how the angles of the footbar, shoulder blocks, straps, etc… are proportioned to fit any body regardless of height. She then takes a student through a beginner level workout to illustrate how the body fits within the frame that the Reformer provides, and how the exercises here parallel the exercises on the mat. Whether you’re a Pilates enthusiast or an Instructor of many years, there is much to learn from Kathi’s talent for communicating and evoking the exacting standards and true depth in the Pilates method. If you enjoy this class, check out Flowing Beginner Workout, where Kathi puts it all together in a workout format. Filmed at American Body Tech, Kathryn Ross-Nash’s Allendale, NJ studio.

MeJo often gets asked by students how the Gratz apparatus is different than other Pilates apparatus. In this mini workshop she demonstrates how the exercises are altered when changes to the apparatus take place. You’ll see for instance how if you change the angle of the strap by putting it up on risers, it changes the angle of every arm exercise, or how the gear placement alters how much work is required to pull the carriage back in—a crucial element in the Pilates method. It’s fascinating information that will help you get more out of your Gratz as well as show why Joe built it the way he did. Filmed at Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates™, New York, NY.
